A paint and sip event is a relaxed, social gathering that combines guided painting with enjoying your favorite beverages & snacks—think of it as a fun, low-pressure art class where creativity meets casual socializing (and often a glass of wine, cocktail, or non-alcoholic drink).
You'll arrive at the venue set up with individual easels, canvases, a prepped canvas (often 12x16" or similar), acrylic paints, a variety of brushes, a palette, water cup and an apron to protect your clothes—no need to bring art supplies!
The event lasts about 2–3 hours, depending on the venue and painting complexity. An experienced instructor welcomes everyone and explains the night's featured painting—something accessible like a landscape, floral design, animal, cityscape, or seasonal theme.
The instructor leads the group step by step:
They often demonstrate each technique on their own canvas. They will break down the artwork into simple, manageable layers—starting with background colors, adding shapes, then details. You follow along at your own pace, with plenty of encouragement and tips along the way. Feel free to ask questions, chat with neighbours, or even add your own creative twists—the goal isn't perfect replication but having fun and ending up with a piece you're proud of.
Music plays in the background, creating a lively yet relaxed vibe. Conversation flows easily—people laugh, share stories, compliment each other's progress, and snap photos of their work-in-progress.
Beverages are a big part of the experience:
Most venues are licensed bars where you can order wine, beer, cocktails, or mocktails (plus sometimes snacks or light food). Sipping is encouraged throughout, helping everyone loosen up and enjoy the process even more.
No prior painting experience is needed—events are designed for complete beginners to seasoned hobbyists. Everyone's painting turns out unique due to personal style, colour choices, or little "happy accidents."
By the end, you'll have a finished (or nearly finished) original artwork to take home. You'll leave feeling creative, relaxed, connected with friends (or new people), and probably a little buzzed in the best way.
It's the perfect outing for date nights, girls'/guys' nights, birthdays, team-building, or just a fun way to unwind and try something new - solo painters always welcome!
Can't wait to meet you!
